Our proposed route takes us through Nashville, Oklahoma City, Albuquerque and finally, Los Angeles

The directions couldn’t be more simple or straight-forward. No creativity in the naming of these super-highways…just go from  high-to-low, East Coast to West Coast.

• Take I-40 W to
•  I-30 W to
•  I-20 W to 
•  I-10 W and  finish up with 
• I-8 W to N Twin Oaks Valley Rd in San Marcos.

Lucky for us, we were able to stay on I-40 from Greensboro NC all the way to Barstow CA.

4 days, 10 hours of driving per day. We begin Day 1 with Nashville on our minds.  My sister Stephanie will be flying in from LAX and helping me drive the remainder of the trip to CA.  Our plan of attack: stop at every Flying J travel plaza and pick up fuel for the body–chewy sweet tarts for Kristen for sure and a push pop for Lilly.  Walk Lady the Dog (give her some cool water to drink). Switch drivers. Repeat every 3 hours.  At the end of each day we have reservations at one of the hundreds of pet-friendly La Quinta hotels across the country. We’ll dine out, enjoy the pool and rest up for the next day’s journey.
