This is by far, my favorite day of the trip. The beach was wonderful, Venice offered some great views but day 3 was spent entirely devoted to reading a book. Not many pics to post from this day but imagine a 75 degree day, clear blue skies, gentle breeze and a simple playground with a bench. And, of course, a book. I cracked open the last book I will borrow from the Hohenfels library: The Burgess Boys by Elizabeth Strout, and proceeded to read it all day long. burgess boys I thought perhaps I’d just spend an hour or two on the playground but no, it turned into an 8 hour reading spree and I relished every minute of it. Occasionally, I’d have a visitor or two; Lilly would use some of the playground equipment or Tim would join me on the bench for a spell but I continued to turn the pages until my tummy rumbled and I knew I had to pause and join the family for dinner. We drove into the little town of Sacile, full of weeping willows hanging heavy over the small river that runs through town. We stopped for gelato and a nutella crepe, of course you do this before dinner and not after. And then, we indulged our favorite Italian custom: the simple wine bar. For 1.50euro a glass, we enjoyed a crisp and cool Pinot Grigio and a smooth Merlot. Simply wonderful to stop a brief moment, sip a glass and continue strolling the streets of an old town.

Some kind of celebration under way!
